Pavel Kočí

- Research and development engineer

I’ve been working in KYOCERA-AVX for 8 months. I joined the R & D department, where I participate in the research and development of new types of tantalum capacitors for the electronics industry.

How did you hear about the position?

After finishing my doctoral studies and short placement at a research institute, I started looking for a job in the private sector. I responded to about 10 adverts across the Czech Republic. KYOCERA-AVX was the first company to invite me to an interview. The company had a friendly approach and my future employer was mainly interested in technical skills. I got plenty of room for my own questions and I was surprised at how many exciting things are done in KYOCERA-AVX. I received the decision and the offer in about 3 days and canceled most of my other interviews on the grounds that I had found my interesting job.

How did your trial period go?

For the first few days I was given a direct supervisor, I was given more advice such as where and what to expect (internal regulations, procedures, dining room etc ...) and self-study. About 10 days later, I joined the production line, where I went through most of the manufacturing operations for about 6 weeks. At that time, I was always guided by the supervisor and technologists of that section. Perhaps the only downside was the fact that I went through the whole process on twelve hour shifts, which was definitely an interesting experience.

What are you working on now?

I am mainly responsible for testing new materials and procedures. Everything revolves around conductive polymer, which is definitely an interesting topic. We have a total of about 8 people in our team, but we work with a variety of other institutions, including Czech and foreign universities and research institutes. This really is an experience that is essential in development. And if I have the opportunity to grow? I can assure you that I grow every day.

What would you recommend to graduates who are looking for a job?

I would encourage students to start working with potential employers during their studies. Whether in the form of an internship or co-operation on a bachelor or diploma thesis. Interest in you for sure we have, and always will have. I would recommend fresh graduates not to waste time after school with unnecessary activities such as harvesting strawberries in Ireland or doing au pair work in London - you already know English! I recommend choosing an employer that really seriously believes in its field and knows what it is doing.

Pavel Dudešek

I have been working at KAVX since April 2017. I started as an Operator and Setter. Since August 2018, I have been working as an Leadhand in the TPC Power Division.

How did you find out about the position?

After returning from abroad where I worked for 6 years, I was looking for a job with a technical focus due to my high school specialisation. I found out about the vacancy at KAVX from my sister who has been with KAVX for many years.

What were your first days on the job and the actual onboarding process like?

I loved my new job from the very first day because I was able to apply my technical knowledge and experience from previous jobs. I joined a team of great people who helped me a lot with my training.

What are you working on now?

I am mainly responsible for planning and preparing winding material. I spend most of my time directly at the winding site with Operators and Setters. We work together to make sure the capacitor winding machines run smoothly.

What is your advice to graduates looking for a job?

Don’t be afraid and don’t underestimate your knowledge and skills.

Tomáš Bosák

- Programmer

In KYOCERA-AVX I work as a programmer. I joined the MIS department, where I am involved in improving the manufacturing system for the electronics industry of capacitors.

How did you learn about the position?

From an advert on the Internet. I took my curriculum vitae to the HR department, they contacted me with the offer, I attended the interview, and after two weeks I joined KYOCERA-AVX.

How was the beginning at KYOCERA-AVX?

The first months at work were not easy. I didn’t really feel ready for the job as programmer. But I knew I could learn quickly. And so I studied at home, in the evenings.

What are you working on now?

With colleagues, we are constantly working on changes in the production tracking program as requested by technologists. I also control data transfer between systems.

What would you recommend to graduates who are looking for a job?

Be self-confident. If you are really interested in a position, the employer will recognise it and your chances of success will increase.

Lukáš Toman

- Buyer of technical parts

I joined Kyocera AVX Components s.r.o. in November 2022 as Buyer of Technical Parts, where I cover the purchase of spare parts for machines in production.

HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE POSITION?

After a year and a quarter of working in the purchasing department at my previous employer, it was clear that I enjoyed the purchasing position and the overall logistics, unfortunately I didn't see the potential for further growth, so I started looking for a new employer. I found out about the position of purchasing manager at Kyocera AVX Components s.r.o. on the internet through the portal Práce.cz, I responded to the advertisement and waited for feedback. Within a month, there were two rounds of the selection process, in which I passed and was able to start.

WHAT WAS THE BEGINNING IN THE COMPANY LIKE?

I already had some experience with purchasing from my former job, but there was still a lot that was new to me. Fortunately, a colleague took me under her wing and taught me everything from A to Z, for which I am very grateful. The atmosphere in the department was pleasant and friendly from the first days, so I was pleased and got to like my new job.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?

I am responsible for securing spare parts, maintaining stock and the administration associated with this. In addition to this we have switched to a new system from September 2023 which I am trying to use to the full extent of my ability, I personally am happy with it as we have everything in one place and clear. Otherwise, I have a couple of "rosters" in progress at the moment and am training our new colleague in the department.

WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO GRADUATES LOOKING FOR A JOB?

Definitely proactivity, a healthy self-confidence and to show that they are not afraid of challenges and are happy to learn new things.

Zdeněk Lapčík

- MLCC Product Marketing Manager

I have been working at KAVX since June 2023 as Product Marketing Manager for ceramic capacitors, abbreviated as MLCC.

How did you find out about the position?

Through the website and from a former colleague, who is now KAVX employee.

What were your first days on the job and the actual onboarding process like?

Although I had worked as a Product Manager before, I joined an industry that was new to me. My colleagues helped me get familiar with the environment and settle into my new role quickly. I appreciate the friendly and helpful attitude and the adaptation plan that was in place.

What are you working on now?

A significant part of my job consists of preparing prices for our distributors and replying to product inquiries.

What is your advice to graduates looking for a job?

Don’t be afraid of new challenges and opportunities. Have confidence in your abilities, and if you struggle with something, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Michaela Kapustová

- Customers Service Coordinator

I joined KAVX in November 2022 as a Customers Service Coordinator

How did you find out about the position?

After graduating and moving to Uherske Hradiste, I spent a few weeks looking for a job in my field but there were not many. I searched for offers on job portals, went to a few interviews, and finally got an internship in public administration with a full-time opportunity after some time. By sheer chance (and luck :)), I then came across an offer posted by KAVX and I was so intrigued by the opportunity to work for an international company that I immediately sent in my CV. Despite my doubts, the job interview was very pleasant and I was thrilled to find out that I succeeded, too.

What were your first days on the job and the actual onboarding process like?

A bit stressful, as in any new job where you are entering a new environment and joining new people. Fortunately, my nervousness quickly subsided and we started the new hire training where we learnt KAVX procedures and specifications from the ground up, including product technical data that had been completely unknown to me until then. Then, using an excellent company benefit, I had the opportunity to attend language courses led by native speakers which helped me with foreign languages. And I can’t forget to mention my amazing colleagues and their help which allowed me to learn faster and be useful in the actual practice.

What are you working on now?

I communicate with customers and other KAVX departments on a daily basis, and I enter data into the system and then manage all customer orders. Furthermore, I run regular reports for our customers, keep them informed about the status of their shipments, proactively prevent issues with deliveries and handle all complaints immediately to ensure that our customers are always satisfied.

What is your advice to graduates looking for a job?

The important thing is to have a healthy self-confidence and not give in to doubts regarding your own abilities. And do not be discouraged if you feel overwhelmed in your new job. Every experience like that will propel you further. Good luck :).
